Sherry has been practicing speech language pathology with the complex medical adult patient population for 35 years. Sherry spent the first 13 years of her career at UC Health in Denver in the late 80s and 1990s spearheading and developing swallowing programs and working with the ALS population. This led to five years as the Patient Service Coordinator of the Rocky Mountain ALS Association working closely with augmentative communication hospice and lobbying for ALS rights and awareness at the state and national levels. Sherry has spent the last 17 years of her career at SCL Health Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette Colorado. Her focus continues to be dysphagia and the medically complex patient and includes a love for the ICU. This last year (2020-2021) has been filled with many learning opportunities given COVID-19 in the hospital setting . Opportunities to educate families and patients and teamwork with an interdisciplinary team have made for a great and passionate career. Sherry continues to strive for the work life balance (now working three days a week)and enjoys skiing hiking gardening spending time with family & family friends (many of them her fellow CU Boulder SLHS colleagues).
